The Don and His Adult Daughters – Booze, Partying and Appropriation – Daddy Will Fix It!

June 30, 2013

Membership in the elite class has its privileges apparently. Those least deserving of sympathy and leniency seem to have their fair share of it, time and time again. I will touch on Rachel Jeantel for a bit but I think the over-analyzing of her is very exploitative.  I will say before jumping off of Rachel for a minute, some Americans are in for a rude awakening if they feel that there is such a wide cultural disconnect between themselves and Rachel. America is changing and if you judge someone’s credibility by how closely they align with your cultural comfort zone, you won’t be able to function in the new America, which will be majority “Minority” in a few decades. More about Rachel later.

The main reason I’m writing today is to express my outrage and anger with the Don and his daughters. Let me be clear, the contents of the   social media of  #MollyWest aren’t terribly troubling to me. She is a 23 and  likes to party! That’s all good! More power. What troubles me the most is the utter hypocrisy from the Don and his legal team. THIS is the same team that sent their minions rifling through Trayvon’s social media in an attempt to paint him as a thug. THIS is the same media that posted the full details of Rachel Jeantel’s twitter account while ignoring the social media of the West daughters, who make no mistake, thrust themselves into this case by their OWN online posts.

Erring on the side of caution we will not not link directly to all that has been found about these women but needless to say, given the pictures of a drunken Molly West on Twitter (hashtag above), the hypocrisy runs deep when you add in the employment history of Rachel West (former public health advocate who would  “inform others about the responsibilities and risks associated with drinking and the dangers of drug use”).  Where is the GMAFB emoticon when you need it. As a result of the online decisions of the adult daughters of The Don, the following statement was issued.

Reached for comment, West released this statement to TheDC:

Most days since this case began I stop for ice cream after court on the way home. It’s a guilty pleasure and is well known by my family. I’ve been doing this as long as I can remember during trials. Earlier in the week I stopped for ice cream and two of my daughters were with me having attended the court proceedings. One of my daughters works out of town and we don’t see each other very often. I stopped for ice cream and we decided to take a picture of us in the car with the cones as a memory. I held my other daughter’s cell phone as I had the longest arm. I never anticipated that the picture would be released via social media.  It was not taken for any such purpose or in any way as a comment on anything having to do with the case. To me it was a private moment with my family. My daughter accepts responsibility for her immature and insensitive comment and apologizes for it.

So this half-truthed statement is supposed to be sufficient for an apology because he considered it private. Well, in life before his client murdered Trayvon, I’m sure Trayvon thought his social media, contents of his phone and texts were private. I’m pretty sure all of the teenaged girls (at last count four) doxed by the gzlegalcase legal strategy arm at the conservative treehouse, i.e. the nutters, thought their social media was private. As you’ve argued in the past, while trying to get the entirety of Trayvon’s social media admitted as evidence in your client’s murder trial, it is very much public. The same is true when your adult daughter decided to publish a “private moment” for all the world to see. So in your world, what constitutes private, West? Only the living have privacy while posting to social media even if made available to everyone but dead children aren’t afforded that same privacy. Hell YOUR LEGAL TEAM FILED A MOTION BASED ON THE SOCIAL MEDIA OF THE WRONG DEEDEE (hat tip nutters) and you don’t think those girls thought they were afforded some privacy? So your point is moot about the private moment.  It’s all very much public.

Funny how West goes all funny on the details….Oh I don’t even know when it was taken, blah blah blah. But we do! Let’s rewind!

West Tie on Day One:
West tie on Day 1
West Tie on Day Two
West Tie on Day 2

All can be verified easily…blue tie on Day One or Monday. Black polka dot tie on Day Two or Tuesday (exactly like the tie he wore in the Molly West IG picture). So ice cream tradition aside, the Molly West IG did not post until Thursday!

So they can say it was not related to the events of the trial and Rachel Jeantel, specifically but clearly West thought DeeDee was stupid and treated her as such in court. Clearly the picture was posted AFTER West finished his cross-examination with DeeDee on Thursday. Even IF they were talking about opposing counsel (I doubt it because Rachel West seems to be obsessed with showing DeeDee in a bad light as well going by her IG account), it is still unprofessional and bad form. West might want to think about the control or lack thereof all parents have over what their children (in this case, adult daughters) do on social media. I would also urge West to learn that lying while giving a non-apology apology null and voids the “apology.”

But hey, it’s only witnesses who are damaging to his client that may be less than candid about certain immaterial facts that are liars, while he and his minions lying in an apology, meh…doesn’t matter. Interesting to note as well how immaterial this issue is to the case, kinda sorta like where Rachel was for Trayvon’s funeral, what name she used in a personal letter and what her age was but whatever. In Don West’s addled brain Rachel’s immaterial lies are trumped up to be a capital offense by West et al. Put the frikkin rocks down West as you do live in a glass house!

And another thing, when you are adult women and you mess up, you should be adult enough to clean up your OWN messes. There is no apology here. West misdirects and lies in his “apology” and the woman who committed the act has stated nothing. I guess she isn’t “bout that life (from Becca West’s now defunct twitter account).” As the social media presence of the West daughters quickly disappears, one wonders why no nefarious intent is placed on these actions much like the defense team’s stated implications regarding Trayvon’s family removing his social media accounts? Is it the defense team’s position that a murdered child’s family should leave up his social media accounts for all and sundry abuse from Zimmerman worshippers while the living adults who made a choice to thrust themselves into the public commentary on this case can do the same and this not be deemed a nefarious action? Are they allowed privacy but Trayvon, the murdered child, is not?

The irony of all ironies, because dead children tell no tales, the defense feels they can tell you exactly who Trayvon was from his social media, but adult women who can offer nice little false niceties via their Daddy’s PR shouldn’t be judged by the same cold and judgmental lens they apply to Trayvon and Rachel? Everyone just look away – don’t delve into the drug and alcohol addled “private moments” of his Girls Gone Wild daughters’ social media because they are entitled to some level of empathy, compassion and concern the defense clearly has thrown to the wayside regarding anyone attached to this case, from witnesses to potential jurors and the victim himself. From the little bit that has been published from these women’s social media accounts (now all hidden or deleted but available on twitter if you search), it looks like some defendant would have a damn good case to get away with murder if we start using what are deemed as “private moments” and incorporating them into the courtroom.  Social Media came to town and wrecked shop for the defense and even with all their claims that they are just doing their job, this is a messy ass operation. If I were gz, I would fire West and ban his daughters from the courtroom. This is NOT the type of bad press you need during your Murder 2 trial but thughboat probably does not care because he is hedging his bets on good ole fashion racism and Trayvon’s “private moments” to walk his way to an acquittal.

For someone who seemingly has so much difficulty understanding the cultural context of Rachel and Trayvon’s last conversation or any conversation between the two really, I’m surprised West didn’t turn to his privileged white daughters who have no problem appropriating said culture. Anyone familiar with said culture would immediately recognize “#dadkilledit” as a phrase or saying associated with urban black culture. And much like the word “nigga” or “cracka” it has multiple meanings depending on the context. It usually refers to some type of contest where someone is doing really well but I’ve never heard it used in the context of a murder trial where the victim was a child. Never heard it in any other context than maybe a musical performance or sporting event.

But there are privileges I guess when cheering on dad while he demonizes and demeans Rachel for her cultural mores while using lingo from said culture. I get it, Rachel bad but privileged attorney’s daughters hip. And given what we’ve found on the West sister’s social media, there seems to be a sole focus on Rachel.  Why so much venom directed at one witness that the media has named the star witness. The State has even stated in open court that Rachel was not the star witness but the defendant was, but the media persists. I’ll tell you why as Miss Celie said in The Color Purple: She’s black, poor and a woman!  Just as Trayvon was killed by the defendant, apparently the goal of the gz camp, assorted fans, family members and hanger-ons was to metaphorically kill Rachel! All this ridicule and violence directed towards her from the defense side because she had the misfortune of being on the phone moments before thugboat murdered Trayvon. It is obvious she is suffering from Survivor’s Guilt (yes she is a victim) and this privileged family of means is hoping for a metaphorical lynching of Rachel because she told her truth! Yes, that is mean-spirited, West. It is beyond disgusting. I hope this forces your adult daughter into some type of therapy because she needs it and badly. No, Molly what you and Dad killed was not Rachel but any belief that this is just his job. You’ve show clearly how personal it is all to you. The life snuffed out and the lives impacted on the side of the victim and I would submit even the defendant are meaningless to you in your voyeuristic egomaniacal world. And that’s what’s stupid…holding your nose up at Rachel while brazenly baring all your own stupidity and soulless core. You may not realize it but Rachel has beat you all head over tails. She forced you to show the world who you truly are and for that we can only thank her even more!

Finally, I want to end with saying I get Rachel Jeantel. I get her culture, I get her demeanor, I get her pain. I get it all. Recognize, the defense team is using the cultural divide to attack her credibility and there is a reason why. She completely blows gz’s “I was attacked for nothing” bs out of the water. She is the only one who can do so. So they want you to ridicule her and apply your prejudices to completely dismiss what she has to say. Point blank, they want you to believe that because she is Black, Urban and female her word ain’t worth shit. Meanwhile Adult Daughters Dearest are running around appropriating urban culture. Go effin figure!

Walk a mile in her shoes. She is a reluctant witness and can you blame her? The defense is trying to exploit her to help the case of the man who murdered her friend. She is visibly still grieving. She is traumatized by the conditions that thugboat put into motion with HIS subjective suspicions. She wants a life of anonymity that will never be possible because some vigilante wannabe cop couldn’t even tell that Trayvon was on the damn phone the entire time he was watching him! I think personally she held up well and I do not think West got what he really wanted from Rachel which was a full out angry black woman, cussing and fussing fit. I think Rachel gave West exactly what he deserved, contempt!

The next time you happen to be on the phone when a friend of yours is murdered and then must face those who will do ANYTHING to get the murderer off (there is a certain trauma in this as well), drop by and let us know how you did. Walking a mile in her shoes takes understanding the Survivor’s Guilt and the brutality of what occurred that night. The remorse, the doubts, the I should and could have done more. The what I would have done differently in hindsight(unlike the defendant who thinks he is the earthly embodiment of God’s Will and has no regrets) because goodness knows if we all aren’t completely prepared for the murder of our friend whilst on the phone, then somehow we would be culpable and not the person who actually pulled the trigger! Rachel, I salute you and your courage. May you be able to find some peace knowing that you did nothing wrong on the night that matters, the night a grown ass man stalked your friend, pursued your friend and ultimately murdered your friend, while you were forced to hear the beginning of that confrontation.

A prayer for Tracy, Sybrina and Jahvaris, as we are finally here! #J4TM

June 23, 2013

Father, I pray for Tracy, Sybrina, Jahvaris and others in their circle of family like Uncle Ronald and Trayvon’s grandmother,  and friends who are grieving.

They’re hurting for many reasons, and I ask You to help them through this season of loss. I reach out to You, the Father of compassion and the source of every comfort, asking You to touch them with Your unfailing love and kindness. Be their God who comforts them as they’re going through their struggles, and bring them through the tough things ahead. Come alongside them in their pain, and strengthen them so they’ll continue to be able to help others who face the same struggles. (2 Corinthians 1:3–4, Psalm 33:22, 1 Samuel 20:14a)

You’re close to people whose hearts are breaking, those who are discouraged and have given up hope. May You who see their troubles and grief respond when they cry out. (Psalm 34:18, 10:14a, 17)

When they’re hurting, help them find their joy in You, for it’s Your joy that will be their strength. Help them to trust You as their God of hope. Fill them with Your joy, peace, and hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Help them experience the love, joy, and peace that are the results of His life in them, no matter what they’re going through. (Nehemiah 8:10b, Romans 15:13, Galatians 5:22)

May they sense Your presence in this time of need.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

If anyone is offended by this prayer, I apologize in advance. I know that the Martin/Fulton family is a family of faith, as am I and this prayer is for them. I believe in the power of prayer but if any of you do not, feel free to send them well wishes instead 🙂 Thank you.

UPDATE: A very special video from LLMSPapa that I would like to share with you all. He says this will be his last video and he got it so right. Papa has been a mighty, brilliant Trayvon Warrior in this long road to justice. I certainly have appreciated the time and effort he has put in to share the truth, as I’m sure you all do to. Please watch and share:

06/22/13 State of Florida vs. George Zimmerman Open Thread

June 22, 2013

“We walk by faith, not by sight” – 2 Corinthians 5:7

The jury selection is complete, silly motions were again denied, and the defense (mainly Don West) received a huge smack down from Judge Nelson. I think we are in a GOOD place. I ask that all of you keep praying that God continues to shine his light on this case and that he opens the eyes and ears of these 6 women jurors. This is not a black vs white jury, and while it may be an all women jury, it is an American jury. This is a common sense case, and the States case is strong. Facts, forensics & impossible statements & scenarios cannot be disputed. Have faith in Bernie de la Rionda to get a conviction thus bringing Trayvon Martin and his family the justice they deserve. We’ve seen him in action; he is fierce with the delivery of truth, and we’ve seen just a small sample.

People have said George Zimmerman would never be arrested. He was. People have said this case would never make it to trial. We’re here. Those are two huge victories that can’t be forgotten. We just have one more to go. Now is the time to stand stronger than ever. Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton have never given up.

I don’t know about the rest of you, but these two parents inspire me to keep going! Keep going Trayvon Warriors! They said it best when they said “Trayvon  is our son too”.

This open thread is designated to the discussion of all things related to trial, State of Florida vs. George Zimmerman. We welcome thoughts, opinions & the posting of information as it unfolds in the comment section. If you need a break from it all and feel like coming here to vent, or feel like stopping by to say a prayer for Trayvon’s family, we encourage that too 🙂 Just a reminder that all comments are subject to moderation by the DPTM admins and those deemed unacceptable will not be approved for participation.

In response to comments re:Trayvon Rally at #Zimmerman trial

June 19, 2013

Wonderful insight from a Trayvon Martin Supporter who actually attended the rallies. Watch the video. Remember where we were in the darkest days. The legal process is moving forward. All that we asked for is accountability in the murder of an unarmed teenager.

It’s not about black or white, it’s about right and wrong. –Sybrina Fulton

Fatherhood: Maybe If Zimmerman Wasn’t Raised by Sr, He Wouldn’t Be Facing Murder 2 Charges!

June 14, 2013

Let’s talk Fatherhood.

Sunday will be the second Father’s Day for Tracy Martin without his son. Let’s all make sure we send him our well wishes and prayers on what I imagine will be a very difficult day given the start of the trial to obtain Justice for Trayvon.  Tracy, if I could I would melt away the sorrow and the pain.  While I can’t imagine your pain and your grief, I walk in the Light with you towards finally righting this wrong. We will get there.

And providng an abject lesson on Fatherhood and who gets to claim the mantle was potential juror E81 and the thugboat’s father, Robert Zimmerman, Sr. We’ve seen how archetypes have worked in a way such that perfect strangers feel it is perfectly normal to assume that Tracy Martin was not a part of Trayvon’s life. Simply because his parents were divorced, does not mean that he had an absentee father. Certainly our President and Oprah and many others known and unknown can paint a fine picture of children who lived without their fathers outside of their home and are productive citizens (gz would still find them suspicious, however). But given the success of the people I could list, we never hear any kudos for single parenthood. Noooo…it’s always “DESPITE being raised in a single parent home…. blah, blah, blah…”

What else do we never hear? “DESPITE being raised in a two-parent home – (fill-in the blank) is a colossal loser!  Now, I know that many people raised in a two-parent home can speak of an absentee parent.  Whether a parent is absent due to work, addiction or affairs (EVERYBODY SAY IT WITH ME – DAWN – WHAT HAPPENED TO DAWN AND WHY DON’T YOU MENTION HER SR???), matters none to a child. But as long as a marriage license is in play, then all benefit of the doubt (archetypal malarky) are afforded to those children even into adulthood. From where I sit, within the confines of the Zimmerman two-parent (really three) home, the following came to fruition:

  • 10 years of incest
  • cop assaulter
  • dog kicker
  • ex-fiance abuser
  • cop academy reject
  • spotchy job history – moving from one job to the next
  • work-place harasser
  • drunk driver (Hi Jr)
  • child murder
  • financial irresponsibility
  • community college drop-out

What a fine resume there and a testament to the two-parent household! Yay Team Zimmerman. Except…

What say you about a three-parent household?

The father, Robert Zimmerman Sr., is a retired military man. He could be strict. And the children’s grandmother, who lived with the family, also kept a watchful eye, said Kay Hall, who lived across the street from the Zimmermans in a neighborhood just west of Sudley Road for about 20 years. George and his siblings “didn’t play with the neighborhood kids,” Rudzenski said. “They had to stay home and play.” It was always “Yes, ma’am,” “No, ma’am,” Hall said.

This week Sr released an e-book on Amazon that is full of lies but ummm no innuendo at all (sarcasm). He comes right out and writes his agenda. Mainly, “My boy shouldn’t face charges for murdering that black boy!  The system is racist against my family (told you that Obummer was going to enslave white people if elected)!!! Those people…errr….African Americans are the real racists not us! And my son is a political prisoner!!!!” I paraphrase of course, but you get the gist.

I found this passage of his very interesting. In it, he faults Trayvon “getting himself murdered” for the Boston Marathon Bombings. Almost as bad as Mark O’mara in court today asking a potential juror, “What made you think the murder of a seventeen-year-old was tragic?”

Zimmerman Sr. says that because of Holder’s decision to investigate whether Trayvon Martin’s death violated federal civil rights laws, the FBI did not have “adequate resources to investigate clearly identified potential terrorist [sic] in the Boston area.” Now, “tragically, we have suffered the consequences of Mr. Holder’s politically motivated decisions.

After giving some thought to the rant above from the propaganda contained in Sr’s book and realizing the Zimm Camp is reactionary and attempts to provide a dueling “narrative” about Trayvon or to dirty Trayvon in comparison to thugboat’s bad acts, something dawned on me. Sr could care less about the Boston Marathon Bombing if it wasn’t for the fact that little Martin Richard, an 8 yr old victim of the bombing, showed sympathy for Trayvon in his very short life. So that really must have stuck in Sr’s craw and since they have nooo problem trashing dead kids, it’s not surprising that Sr would use this opportunity to exact revenge on another dead kid and his parents with a self-righteous rant pointing out to them that they shouldn’t align with Trayvon “cuz it’s Trayvon’s fault Martin was murdered just like it’s Trayvon’s own fault he was murdered not thugboat’s!!” Sick family this!

Martin Richard, 8-year-old killed in Boston Marathon, made demand for “peace” after Trayvon Martin shooting

“No more hurting people. Peace,” is the message held by Martin Richard in his classroom last April — part of a lesson on the shooting of Trayvon Martin, according to a Facebook post by Martin’s teacher, Rachel Moo.

How very classy and quaint for the father in the triad of narcissism, arrogance and entitlement to take a dig at Martin Richard, another dead child at the hands of another? This pointed barb is howling at the moon because even an 8 year old can see his son is wrong! And it matters not who is squashed in his attempt to let his child murdering, cousin molesting, lying son go free. He has no sympathy for anyone but his poor, poor family or he would have left this child out of it. Who cares how his comments might strike real victims, those who were injured in Boston and those who lost loved ones like Martin Richard’s parents? Not Zimmerman Sr while doth protesting too much all over the place. He’s a sad, bitter and racist old man. It’s going to burn like hell for him to see his son in prison and with all the goodwill he seeks to burn like his compadres burn crosses, he will find the world will delight just a little to see him have his comeuppance…that is of course if the self-proclaimed Daddy of the Year ever graces the courtroom with his presence!

Nasty, ugly, disturbing and disgusting but it points to only one thing – Robert Zimmerman Sr knows the law and he knows the evidence and he is scared, barking mad scared that his son will be sentenced to 25 to Life. Sucks for him and then the rest of society can be safe with one less degenerate on the street. Instead of victim-blaming and projecting, Sr should reflect on what he could have done differently as a father instead of pointing fingers from the side of a sinking ship!

A Personal Note: We Have Come Too Far To Cower In Fear of the Past!

June 13, 2013

As we move through the jury selection process, there will be many naysayers, doubters, sundry “concern trolls” and Overwrought Warners encroaching on your own assurances of  what you believe to be true; that thugboat will be found guilty by a jury of his peers. Some may be your allies inside and out. Some may feel entitled to or feel that they are just helping you by pointing out information that they feel will predict the outcome of this case, contrary to your firm belief. There may be some who would rather deal with the personal than deal with this specific case, both inside and out.

My advice to you, rebuff, reject and point out to them as Dr. Martin Luther King said:

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

Light in this case is the unvarnished truth that we walk on a righteous path. Light in this case is understanding that there is an imbalance in the Universe and the Universe will work to correct this, as  imbalances can’t stand. Light is the knowledge that without the voices of Trayvon’s parents standing up and getting us all on board, we would not be at this point today. Light is understanding that a person’s race or ethnicity CAN NOT predict what they will do in the jury room because we know that we have been on this journey with all races and ethnicities across the political spectrum for over a year, contrary to media depictions. We know the Light that has been revealed in the minds of those who have been exposed, not to the media sensationalism around this case, but to the heavy lifting of going through this evidence piece by piece, day by day.

Today I find myself deeply disappointed with the shenanigans of one potential juror who attempted to hide his opinion during jury selection. If you are my ally, you don’t lie in this very grave matter under oath. You stand up as potential juror as R39 did. Certainly we have plentiful examples of potential jurors who are favorable to thugboat’s narrative. And as we can see by the strikes, being amenable to the narrative that thugboat should have been arrested is not a disqualifier for the jury.  In a manner this grave, playing games both inside and outside is unworthy of the memory of Trayvon Martin and is a waste of the Court’s time. If you care about Justice, you care about a fair and impartial jury because if that guy would have made it on the jury, then you would have had an ally undermining our goal as that could potentially lead to a reversal of a conviction. A dumb, incredibly insensitive move that only adds to the negative spin on the media narrative about the supporters of Justice for Trayvon.  That potential juror should have known better. At the end of the day, Justice does not need to come from a sleight of hand so I hope potential jurors will be honest!

Change does not roll in on the wheels of inevitability, but comes through continuous struggle. And so we must straighten our backs and work for our freedom. A man can’t ride you unless your back is bent.

Back to the purpose of this post. We’ve come too far to allow the fear of a Rodney King or Casey Anthony verdict undermine our resolve.  Although the memory of those outcomes are still bitter, we must reject the notion of letting those verdicts overshadow our belief that “Right is Might.” We must stand unbroken and with our backs straight with the grace and faith in a just outcome like Sybrina and Tracy. We must become singular in purpose and focus our energies on what matters. Not ruminations and “concern.” Not petty personal and political trickery but on the singular belief and recognition that the murder of Trayvon Martin was wrong, unjust and senseless. We must recognize that a nation of laws can’t stand with instances where men are not held accountable, regardless of their self-serving lies, media archetypes and sensationalism, for gunning down an unarmed teenager doing the most innocent of things: going to the store for candy.

So when some, for whatever reason, seek to pull your attention away from what matters, seek to tear you down instead of uplift you and offer solidarity, seek to inject their narrative on top of what you know to be true and right, kindly let them know: Don’t tread on my right to believe in the power of righteousness, the power of people to make the right decision given the right information and the power of a group that tore down the veil of secrecy surrounding the Sanford PD  and Seminole County State Attorneys’ Office to get us to this point.

In other words, if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. Stand for Trayvon and brush the naysayers off your shoulders!  Miss me with the BS, it disrupts my energy to focus on the only thing that matters —what is happening in a courtroom in Sanford, Florida. I won’t abide by it and neither should any of you! Get on board with full confidence and knowledge or get out the way. Forward motion and don’t be a drag on the momentum of this train because this train will stop at nothing less than Justice for Trayvon Martin.

We will NOT let our collective energy be turned down by unnecessary and irrelevant distractions.

06/10/13: State of Florida vs. George Zimmerman Open Thread

June 10, 2013

Statement from Trayvon’s Family

“We are relieved that the trial is starting today with the selection of jury members. We are seeking justice for our son and a fair trial. Trayvon’s life was taken unnecessarily and tragically, but we call upon the community to be peaceful. We have placed our faith in the justice system and ask that the community do the same. Please pray for Trayvon and for our family.”
